Important disclaimer

We are independent. Home War Ready is not part of, affiliated with or endorsed by HM Government, the Cabinet Office, the Ministry of Defence or any emergency service.
In an emergency, call 999. Always follow instructions from the emergency services, Emergency Alerts on your phone and official government channels. They take priority over anything in this app.
General guidance only. Our content is general information to help households prepare. It isn't medical, legal, financial or professional safety advice for your circumstances. Speak to your GP or pharmacist about medicines.
No predictions. We report what officials have said. We can't predict whether, when or how a conflict or emergency will affect the UK or your area.
Third-party data. Weather forecasts, flood warnings and news headlines come from third-party and public sources. They may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Check the original source, such as the Met Office, the Environment Agency or GOV.UK.

Terms of service

1. Using Home War Ready

These terms apply when you use our website and app. By subscribing you agree to them. You must be 18 or over to subscribe. One subscription covers one household.

2. What you get

Subscribers get the member area: daily updates, readiness levels, the kit builder, the shopping plan, guides, the household plan and the weather outlook. We may improve, change or remove features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what you get, we'll tell you, and you can cancel and get a refund for any unused part of your subscription.

3. Your account

Keep your login link private. Don't share your account outside your household, copy our content for resale, or try to get around the paywall.

4. Our content

The content, design and software belong to us or our licensors. Some information is public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Weather data is from Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0.

5. Our liability

We take care to keep our content accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee it is complete or error-free. We aren't liable for loss caused by events outside our control, by relying on third-party data, or by not following official instructions. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights are not affected.

6. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

Subscriptions and cancelling

Prices: £3.99 a month or £33.99 a year. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged.
Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. We'll email you before an annual subscription renews.
Payment: payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
Cancelling: cancel at any time from your account page or by emailing us. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
14-day refund: if you cancel within 14 days of first subscribing, we'll refund you in full, even though you've had access. This goes beyond the legal minimum.
Price changes: we'll give at least 30 days' notice of any price change, and you can cancel before it applies.

Privacy notice

We are the data controller for the personal data described here. ICO registration is pending.

What we collect and why

Account details: your email address, to log you in, send service emails and manage your subscription. Lawful basis: contract.
Payment details: handled by Stripe. We receive your name, email, subscription status and the last four digits of your card. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation (accounting records).
Support messages: what you send us when you get in touch. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

What stays on your device

Your household numbers, kit ticks, household plan and weather location are saved in your browser on your device. We don't send them to our servers and can't see them. Clearing your browser data deletes them.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that run Home War Ready: Stripe (payments), Supabase (logins), Netlify (hosting) and Google (our support email). Some of these may process data outside the UK under approved safeguards. Weather lookups send the postcode or town you type to Open-Meteo or postcodes.io to find your forecast. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while you're a member and for 12 months after you leave. Payment records are kept for 6 years for tax purposes.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or ask us to move it. Email support@homewarready.com. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage to save your kit and plan on your device, and one essential cookie or token to keep you logged in. The app also saves pages on your phone so they work without signal. As these are essential to the service, we don't need to ask for consent.
